Introduction of NJHP

Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Company (Private) Limited was incorporated on 18 November 2004 as a private limited company under the Companies Act 2017. The registered office of the company is at WAPDA Administrative staff College Sector – H-8/1 Islamabad. The company is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). The Neelum–Jhelum Hydropower Plant is part of a run-of-the-river hydroelectric power scheme in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, designed to divert water from the Neelum River to a power station on the Jhelum River. The power station is located 42 km south of Muzaffarabad and has an installed capacity of 969 MW. The plant has managed to reach 1040 MW production on a few occasions, which is beyond its capacity and rare precedence in the hydel power sector.

Key Challanges

Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power Company is a prominent company in the power generation sector governed by WAPDA. When this company reached the phase where they required the technological assistant to manage their accounting functions, they started their market research that led their official to many vendors including local and international. But the problem was this project has its strategic importance and due to many other sensitivities, the official decided to reach only local vendors, whose product is mature, trusted, and will be able to maintain long-term partnerships. These key challenges led them to Pearl Solutions for ERP services. There were also some technological challenges in this project that are mentioned below:-

  • Proper general ledger module who can handle a huge amount of data without lagging, the reason is if the system lag at one place only it will made collapse whole system.
  • Consolidation of accounts was also a key challenge because NJHPC has offices in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad, so their working will be separate but the accounts must consolidate at different levels for proper reporting.

Gap Analysis

After identifying the key challenges, we started our gap analysis to gather data about the feasibility of the system for NJHPC, and to know in deep about their expectations from us regarding our product to have a better knowledge of our client to deliver them in the best possible way. For gap analysis following mediums were used:-

  • Interviews were conducted at different levels for better understanding.
  • The presentation was given by our officials about our product and took feedback from them whether they are satisfied with the existing product or they need any kind of customization in it.
  • IT staff of NJHPC was working closely with us because, in the end, they will be using this new system, so their interviews and feedback gave us complete thinking of the system.

System Development

Pearl solutions developed customized PeralERP according to the instructions given by the client, these modules are as follow:-

  • A general ledger accounting module
  • Customized Consolidation of accounts module.

    Implementation

Moving towards the important phase of any ERP project, so after the system development phase, the implementation started.

    • According to the requirements of a client, customized Consolidation of accounts was made and then properly data was migrated on a customized level that was demanded by the company. After migration of data, the whole accounts of Islamabad and Muzaffarabad offices integrated in a way that concerned officials will be able to have 360-degree view f whole functions.
    • A general ledger module was also implemented there for proper recording, summarizing, and interpreting the daily accounting activities of NJHPC.
